I must have been suffering from 'tunnel vision' and overlooked a more important need for you.. IMHO, you should be doing more to improve your bone health as well as the Omega 3 supplementation... hairline fractures (IMHO) in the bones indicate poor bone health...
(note: for your body to properly assimilate calcium, you need at least 50% of Magnesium; ie., 1300mg of Calcium + 650mg of Magnesium)

AND you NEED to stress the bones (exercise, etc.) in order for them to be strong!!!!!

~ 25-30 years ago, I read an article that recommended taking the Omega-3 fish oils first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and avoid any other consumptions for 30 minutes...this suggestion was based on the fact that this kept the O3 from going through the digestive system process; and straight to the areas of the body that benefitted from the supplement. I take a tablespoon each morning and so far it's working.. The best tasting & highest potentcy I've found is Twinlab's Emulsified Cod Liver Oil... you can get Orange, Mint or Lemon flavored.

Hello Summeraj, Welcome to MedHelp. I am glad you found us. You will find lots of support and information from our members.

Fish oil supplements containing omega-3 essential fatty acids (EFAs) might help treat neck and back pain per a study done in 2006 and reported on another Medical Wed source.
It is believed that such supplements might be "a safer alternative" to non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for some patients with spine-related pain.

The participants were asked to take fish oil supplements containing the omega-3 fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (decosahexaenoic acid).

The surveys findings include:

60% of patients noted an overall improvement in their pain and said their overall pain had improved.
60% of patients specifically reported less joint pain.
80% of patients stated that they were satisfied with their improvement.
88% of patients said they would keep taking fish oil supplements

The above is the results of the survey. So will fish oil helps?? Some ppl apparently believe it will. My sister has severe joint disease and took fish oil religiously to no avail. She claimed she had no pain relief.

It may be worth a try. Apparently it will not harm you if taken according to dose directions. Please keep us posted and let us know how you are doing. Take Care, Tuck
