ok...thank you very much :)
Whenever you get an injury to a soft tissue, it scars. (even a mild muscle strain is a bunch of micro tears in the muscle)
Just like a cut on your skin, every other soft tissue in your body scars.
Scars do not stretch, and they bind the tissue surrounding it. That's why it's so important to break them up early, to prevent a small scar from turning into a bigger scar.
So, breaking them up releases the surrounding tissue to allow those to be stretched.
gotcha gotcha...i understand..i'll def look for for an orthopedist to find out exactly whats wrong...thank you sooo much for the advice...what do you mean by breaking up the scar tissue btw?
I think you missed the main point of my post. The brace isn't the cause, it just MIGHT be making it worse. (no way to know over a forum posting....)
This issue is you not following a strict enough rehabilitation after the cast came off. (2-3 weeks isn't too long) So, the damage is now done, and it will take a lot more to undo the damage.
In addition to stretching, you will need to break up the scar tissue that developed.
It would be best to see an Orthopedist or rehab specialist for advice on what exercises to perform.
they only put it on for about 2 or 3 weeks to keep me from moving it around...he told me to do stretching exercises at home which I did...but having three very younger siblings I had alot I needed to do also. I'll take the brace off if that could be the case since i'm not a big fan of it in the first place. Do you think I should continue taking pain killers today and see if that helps?
Yes, the biggest issue may have been not getting checked after5 the removal.
The problem with immobilizing ligaments and tendons, is that they tighten up very quickly. This can become a permanent issue. They also scar quickly and easily.
The most important aspect of a soft tissue injury, is to religiously follow the rehab afterwards. This prevents the tightening up and long term problems, and it breaks up early formation of scar tissue. Using a brace is also most likely making the problem worse.
You will need to do stretching, strengthening and scar tissue disruption. It would be best to be seen by an orthopedist who can recommend the appropriate rehab.
