Hello Backpain,

I am sorry you are in so much pain. There are many members here that know what you are talking about. I am therefore puzzled as to why you want to get off the medications if that is all that is working for you. None of us want to take these heavy doses of pain meds. However when nothing else works and you have a life to live most of us chose the pain relieving medications. Are you concerned about the long term side effects of the medication? I can understand that concern.

There are of course alternative methods such as acupuncture, meditation, bio-feedback and similar options. I personally have never found them to be effective. That does not mean the won't be effective for you. If that is what you are seeking than I would suggest you consult a good PMP and ask for alternative methods.

It is not safe to abruptly stop taking your medications. Again I suggest you consult with your physician to help you ease the withdrawal symptoms that you certainly will experience. Speak honestly and openly with him/her and discuss your concerns, If it is decided how you will discontinue the medications than I suggest you also join the Substance Abuse Forum. There are many experienced members in the forum that will help you with the withdrawal.

Take care and keep us posted on how you are doing. My best to you, Tuck
