I have no insurance now the DEA have the pharmacy cut my pain meds in half

I just found out I can get only half of my chronic migraine medication because of the DEA new rule, I don't have cancer but I am in constant pain with debilitating migraines. I have tried other meds when I had insurance, now I don't and can afford a couple to make my life a little livable, how can they do this to a person who feel like someone has hit them in the head with a bat, when the pain comes

It's a terrible Catch 22 with regard to pain meds.  Abuse is rampant, especially with teens and young adults and it's destroying there lives.  And then there are people with terrible chronic pain (myself included) and some can't get the proper meds.  I haven't had any problems with my meds, when needed, being restricted.

I suffered from migraines terribly when I was younger.  I was free of them until I turned 50 and started getting them again, though not as often.

My daughter has been having luck with a supplement called CoQ10.  It takes a couple of months to kick in but she has seen a huge reduction in how many she gets.

Lets hope the mayor soon needs at least 4 days worth of pain medications real soon!

The Mayor of New York, in between his attempts to ban soft drinks and salt from cooking in senior centers issued a directive to all city hospitals forbidding them to prescribe more than three days of opiates, regardless of the injury, disease, or degree of pain.

This is insane-the DEA now can tell everyone how much medicine they need? I think this is a very slippery slope we are traveling down. i wish the idiots who make these "rules" up get a taste of what chronic pain can be like. The sad thing is that there will be someone they love at one time or another that will need pain medications, and be told that they either can't have enough of them to help, or can't have them at all. Then what will they do?

I feel ya! I get horrible migraines that keep me from functioning. Invisible pain, so a lot of doctors or pharms will look at you like you are drug seeking. Have you been to a neurologist? What type of doc/specialist have you seen?

You might want to try a different pharmacy (a pharmacy CANNOT change your prescription, they can refuse to fill it but can't change it without your doctor's OK). maybe ask your doctor to write out 2 scrips for half the amount each. It might work, it might not, but worth a try. Good luck to you.

Unfortunately, the DEA, under the present administration has decided to interfere with the doctor-patient relationship, and threaten physicians with loss of licence for prescribing certain drugs.
