Hi Val,

A tardy Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. You don't provide any information with your question. I assume you have Aarthritis?

Decadron or Dexamethasone is a potent synthetic member of the glucocorticoid class of steroid drugs. It has many uses.  It acts as an  anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant.

Yes, it can be utilized for conditions such as Arthritis. It is normally effective in reducing the inflammation that accompanies Arthritis which causes much of the pain and swelling.

It's normally used on a short term basis as with prolonged usage it can have life changing side effects.

I hope you'll let us know how you are doing. We'll look forward to your updates.

Best of Luck,
~Tuck

Hi val1929,

Welcome to the PM (Pain Management) Forum. I'm glad that you found us! Our members are CP (Chronic Pain) patients that help each other through our own experiences with CP.

As far as Decadron (generic name is dexamethasone) goes, it's used for many different things. One of the uses can be arthritis.

Please only use this under a Dr.'s orders and with all medications use it carefully.

I hope this has helped you.  Best of luck.........Sherry
