Infection after surgery

Hi everyone,
I know I haven't been on as much and it is because I have been having some problems. I had some injections done and the injection site became infected. Needless to say this is very painful! The medication they used leaked under the skin and became inflamed and infected and this is not really common but there have been a lot of reports of this happening so I urge everyone to be aware of this.
I am doing much better now and hope to be here a lot more. I am glad to see members here taking their time to help people and your commitment to those in need and our community shows!
Has anyone here had this kind of problem with injection sites? I would like to hear about it:)

Thanks
Sandee

I had 8 surgeries due to infections and fluid filled tumors that formed at injection sites on my hips.  I had to have a lot of oil based medication and it caused me a ton of problems my whole blood stream became infected and it took 8 surgeries 4 on each side to finally get it cleaned up.

I am glad you are feeling better. We all missed you. I have heard of injection sites becoming infected, all types of sites. It can happen with any drug and at any site.

No matter how much caution is taken and with all the correct procedures followed you are still puncturing the bodies first and best line of defense, the skin. And than you are instilling something that is foreign into our bodies. We tend to take fairly common procedures as just a routine, everyday happening when indeed there is always a risk. Because those risks are low and often rare we think it will never happen to us, or we don't even consider the risk. And in all actuality most often the risk out weights the benefit. This is usually the way we make our medical decisions.

That all said I am very sorry that it happened to you, that you became one of the statistics. I hope you will continue to improve and feel better every day. We all need your support but don't overdue. Take care, Tuck
