Addiction and physical dependence are not the same thing.  Now I understand what can happen when these 2 terms are confused .

The two are very different.  I was accused by my own sister of being an addict.  For legal reasons I asked my family doctor and pain specialist to write a letter stating that I am not and never have been an addict.  I do however have a dependence on pain meds. I have had 7 surgeries, fibromyalgia and suffer tremendously with pain.  My doctor had no problem doing this for me.

I hope you can explain a little more maybe we can help.  There are lots of people, my sister who is an addict being one of them, that do not get the difference and who get very angry when someone is able to take a prescription drug by directions only and NOT abuse the drug.  I was so upset at the accusations my sister was making I went in to counseling.  The therapist told me me she is actually jealous that I can take pills as prescribed and will say or do anything to lash out of me.  There are obviously other issues she and I have but if somebody's sister can say this imagine what a stranger will say.
