I think it's like a tailbone injury. Nothing but time will help, and staying off of it as much as possible. The insoles are a great idea, something very soft should be comforting.

I was treated with ice and rest, and proper footwear, along with shock-absorbing insoles or arch supports.
It is quite painful. I think what happened to me is that i bruised that big muscle behind the toes.
