Meloxicam and ibuprofen

Is it safe to take ibuprofen in the same day as Meloxicam? I take 15 mg of the Meloxicam in the morning for pain but need additional pain relief later in the day and I know that both drugs are NSAID so I don't want to accidentally overdose.

Hey, AO111.

By taking 12 ibuprofen daily, you are probably exceeding the recommended
daily max. No more than 2400mg TOTAL daily in the short term and no more frequently taken than every 4-6 hours at 400mg each time  which is the is the normal high dose and any dose exceeding this will not give any extra benefit anyway.

Please message me, as your pain and inflammation management doesn't seem proper for some reason. There are better alternatives, but you may want to provide more details about your condition first, before I can make any more comments.

Okay thanks for the info! I was mainly concerned about an immediate accidental overdose. As for the long term effects I've been taking up to 12 ibuprofen a day for over a week now so even without the Meloxicam I'm risking negative effects.

Meloxican is a drug that blocks the action of the enzyme COX-2 that is responsible for inflammatory response, when there's some imbalance
in the body. It also blocks another "sister" enzyme COX-1 to a lesser degree, which enzyme is protective of stomach acid. Also NSAID drugs including
IBUPROFEN have a similar inhibiting action on COX-1. The problem is that the combination of the two, over time-even if taken at separate times- might cause unwanted effects, like stomach lining perforation, ulcers or other issues.
So my short answer for this is NO.
You may look into natural anti-inflammatory COX-2 blockers like boswellia serata, curcumin, ginger and white willow bark powder which is also an analgesic agent in place of Ibuprofen.
If it were for myself, I would go with mainly the Boswellia Serrata in Nano-biovalable format and tken with a meal containg fat, as the efficiency
increases by 700% (not a typo!).
I have done research in this area and if you need detailed info and  sources for quality Boswellia in the proper format please send me a message.
