Odd pain in left thigh

For about a week or so now I've been having an odd pain deep in my left thigh. It's not excruciating by any means. It feels a little like I pulled something but I haven't done any exercise or movements that would really result in that. The pain comes and goes. Sometimes it shows up when walking. Other times when laying in bed or sitting. No visual abnormalities on my thigh. Thigh is not warm to the touch. No tingling, itching, numbness. Just the pain. About a 2 on a 10 point scale (10 worst pain ever). Any hint at what this could be? My pessimistic mind says Deep Vein Thrombosis, but I would imagine that would be much more painful. Thoughts?

By all means go to the ER to be checked for a DVT. That is how mine started 2 1/2 years ago. By the time I was diagnosed it has spread from my groin to my ankle. I still hve remnants in the thigh area. I also have RSD/CRPS which is a chronic pain condition resulting from the immobility of having the DVT for so ong. I am in the process of sympathetic nerve blocks, RX neurontin, a TENS unit and am a candidate for a spinal stimulator unit. This all started from a 1 1/2 hr. plane ride. No lie. See a Dr. ASAP.
Take care, Kathy

Hello Agents,

Welcome to our Pain Management Community at MedHelp. I am sorry you are having thigh pain.

I tend to agree with your DX of DVT. However usually there are other symptoms associated with it... but not always. You covered most of the symptoms other than redness but I am assuming you would have included that in your post if it were present.  My mother has had DVT at least six or seven times. Sometimes it was painful chronically but other times it was not. It may be nothing as you said but a muscle, or a small spasm. But it certainly bears a trip to your PCP for an evaluation. I'm sure you are aware of the consequences if the thrombosis moves.

Good luck to you and please let us know how you are doing. Take care, Tuck
