I have to agree with you. The billions and trillions of dollars spent on drugs that are not really drugs that save lives and they continue to try and make the ultimate drug when there are plenty of drugs on the market that work great. I do understand the need for making the drugs we use better but at what cost are we trying to make the perfect drug when we are forgetting some crutial ones in the process.
My Mom had parkinsons and the amount of money spent on research is very small when you look at the amount of money spent on research for drugs like viagra and others similar. Now I know here are those who consider this drug life altering but come on really. Our money as taxpayers is spent on the drug or disease that will accumlate the most revenue. This is not the way it should be done. Our money should go to the most under treated disease and to the ones who need treatment most instead of worrying about the bottom dollar we should be more aware of human lives and how many are lost each day from the lack of health care and not being able to afford the medications they need.
Sorry for the rant.

Im onboard please PM me so we can get the ball rolling. I do feel that we need to show some of the worse cases but also we should add ones that hit home. Where due to a condition that is not at your control you are fired or let go from a company, ones that not only show that we are still here trying to get back but are having problems and without the right kind of help we will almost never make it. I think that the idea is great I will start writing a letter to my elected officals from the state of Virginia both local and goverment showing that there are people that are not trying to use the system to their advantage just so they dont have to work or that they just want to get high, We as a group need what the Dr's prescribe and we need to make sure that no matter where we go that we can get the help we need, let it be medication or a visit to another Dr to try and get some help. I feel that if the Pres wants to help he can first look at the drug companies who have not only cures for certian things but information that could help millions. I know of a man who worked for a drug company had he told me that after he learned what they had that he had to quit working there it was a good paying job but he said that he could not work there knowing what he knew. Cause they cant make money by curing something only by making it so you can live with it. We need congress to pass a bill making all of their findings public and have auditors checking on what they have done. We spend Billions of dollars on trying to find the cure for cancer and aids but the only thing that you can do is live with it by taking their pills that cost a ton to buy. They can make a man hard for 4 hrs but cant free a man/woman from a disease, thats BS and that is one of the places that we need to start to get the ball rolling on helping all the people that need help to have a good and long life.

we r a minortiy...but not a minority who has a bu11 load of help in anyway shape of form...rejects in a way

socialized medicine may be introduced and if the funding does not come out of the 60 % of americans that wotk..i feel it is a good idea...but i wil it seems...they will add tax to the middle class work horse to pay for mosre and more..while we quietly live paycheck to paycheck..and barely

If he would come up with a plan to get tax dollars out of the filthy rich to help the unisured..i would go for it...and elderly as there staus here is totally horrible and pulls my heartstrings each and every day...i pay close to 1/3 of my check in taxes...i do beleive in medical care for all and it should be available at a price working people can afford

These are people who work at low paying jobs and to me insurance is a must these days....i have no problem supplementing people who work and can not afford insurance..and those elderly who worked all of their life and now freeze in the winter and sweat every summer...this is, or was the working class of america!

i just do not feel as good about helping the 35% of my citys populatuion who does not work at all...jobs r here..czecks come in and do them/...many here r  conditioned not to work..if i had their car..LOL..i may try and learn these ropes/i walk out in my toyota while the woman if front paid with stamps and jumps into a jaguar./happened today/....free food...free house..an extra 150 bux a month for any new offspring...buying food i can never afford..driving cars i cant afford

picken cotton is the 100 year plus excuse that many use...now i am picken cotton...to pay for others who do not pick cotton...my fingers r tired....then again since 100s of years ago people picked cotton..i guess it is my turn..and then turn over my paycheck to those who are beneath picking cotton

southern thinking here so no comment needed per se

That sounds good. After Sandee gives us the go, we can all chip in. Sandee has to get approval from MH so when that happens, Sandee Tuckamore and myself will have a go at it. I thought I would keep track of members that would like to help so I'm going to list potential members who would like to have an input in my journal.
Thank you very much, we will be in touch.

Maybe you could include the guy who spent years in prison but was eventually pardoned.
Richard Pahey. ( Spelling) There is a video I put in the health pages about him and what the DEA and goverment did to him.Let me know what I can do!

Thanks, we need a starter and I'm not one at this time. I can help but my mother is consuming my time and will until early December.

With Sandee's and MH's approval we can sent PM's to some of the members asking if they would like to become involved. But it is my guess we will need MH's and Sandee's approval as to how much if any we can involve the members, etc.

If or when we have a go than we can post it as a question to members.

I will start by doing some research on the subject. I will look for the article on the Doc that was sent away. I will start writing some type of letter in my microsoft works. I will send it to your messages and you can add along with Sandee and others. Maybe we can post it in the forum so that we can get everyones input. This will make a good statement for the government

Yes Mollyrae. And you know even I don't know the details of that one. I think we should determine which incidents best depict our plight. I'm sure there are many. Maybe even some photos but how do you capture subjective pain? I know it may be tough put I think we could do some research and come up with some ideas.

Look at the many members that fail the drug tests when they are taking their medications religiously You should include what they must go through to be treated again. Maybe we should solicit physicians for their stories. Sandee posted a list of several organizations that do represent chronic pain. What are they doing to aid in our need for proper and timely pain management? I should look into that, maybe they have already done this.

We need more than one or two ppl. First we need a plan. Than we need a leader.

I'm on board Tuck, Are the stories your talking about like the one where the Doc went to prison for prescribing?

I have suggested this in the past. I absolutely believe we should begin a letter writing campaign.  Not only should we write to Obama, we should also include every elected official in our individual states.

I propose we have a general letter addressing our overall plight. To that letter I would attach 6-10 of the most horrific stories we have heard on MedHelp, provided we have all the facts substantiated to the best of our ability.

I'm ready to start as soon as I can get a committee going.  I was ready years ago. The state of our health care delivery system for CP Sufferers is despicable. If it's one incident than it will be percieved to be isolated. We need to bring attention to the multitude of incidents that happen every day. I'm mad as Heck!

The only thing the government does well is defense, and that is with a lot of wasted money. I'd rather the government stay out of health care except for breaking down the barriers of health plans between the states and putting some caps on ridiculous litigation that drives up the cost of health care.

There are many pain topics from the kind of care we receive to the way our meds are prescribed. What kind of situational question would you propose?

I am not into politics in any way shape or form. I would not even know where to begin asking the right kinds of questions to help our cause. I do know that the president can help our cause in a huge way. Maybe we should all get together and write a letter to our new president and explain our situation. It can't hurt and if we sit back and do nothing then we can't very well expect results.
Any ideas?

While I feel that President Elect Obama will change how our Health is offered to us, I don't think the the pain industry itself or the medication tables will change in any way.

I do hope that we as a Country get the universal Health Care provided as in other Countrys. There is aslo a big risk involved with this. Other Countrys for instance..England or Canada have to wait to be seen ( not including office visits) on an average of 6mo. for their tests like an Ultrasound or a visit to a Specialist. This will be the downfall we face.

I do feel that our Country is headed in a good direction........
