So sorry to hear about your situation. I do understand. I have been traveling 2000 miles every few months, for the past 5 years to a great Doc, but no where near Alabama. I am in IN. and looking for a good one even in a near- by State. I must be on pain medicine the rest of my life, as well. Good luck to you. Kenzie Marie
It is called being opioid tolerant. I am on the 50 mcg/hr Fentanyl patch that I change every 48 hours. I drive to work everyday just fine, conduct technical presentations, and perform analyses with a lot of technical depth. I am in the engineering field.
Over time a higher dose is needed to achieve the same amount of pain relief when opioid medications are used on a daily basis for years or even decades such that the dose can become so high that it can kill everyone in your house except you. All opioid medications should ALWAYS be kept locked up and out of reach from children.

You could also try calling nearby hospitals; some have pain management clinics. Your primary care doctor may also have some suggestions for you. And 60mg. a day is a fair amount but some pain conditions require that much or more.
Call your insurance and ask them to suggest health care providers who do pain management. 60mg? Yikes. How do you function? After major surgery 5's and 10's took care of a variety of pains and just put me out... I can't imagine going to work (Driving)
Not sure if you will get the info from a forum unless you are very lucky and someone from that area happens to read your post. Can't your doctor's office help with referrals or your own primary doctor??
