My husband uses Torodol for kidney pain it seems to work pretty good. If you have to go back on narcotic pain relievers again, just ask about a more graceful taper
I was taking up to 6 5/325 Norcos per day for sever back pain,an switched to gabapentin 600 mg 2-3 times per day as needed .I experienced no withdrawal effects and it kept my worst pain away, Now I take 1 or 2 gabapentins per day and most days are tolerable. I do wish I still had some vicodin for bad days , as my back pain is related to my activities any given day. My goal is to be at least 50 % as active as I was before my back pain started , but I can't seem to communicate this with my GP without sounding like a 60 yr old junkie . The pain contract doesntallow for good or bad days. Or for pain related to more active days compared to being ahouse bound couch potato. I hope gabapentin is a viable option for you.
Stay strong !
Thank you both . I have used the Torodol and it doesn't seem to touch the pain. I will look into gabapentins.. I am thankful that I have a very understanding doctor. And is willing to help me try different things when I ask.
Pregabalin (Lyrica) is similar to gabapentin (Neurontin) and may be more effective, but usually kidney stones require opiates -- they can be quite painful.
