RIBCAGE PAIN;

Hello, i awoke a few nights ago with severe pain in and around my ribcage, from front to back on the rigt hand side, most of the pain was coming from the middle of the spine. The pain seemed to be coming from under the ribs and hurt when i inhaled. When i am up and about there is very little to no pain, but every night after a few hours of sleep the agony returns.  I have seen a Doctor who is totally baffled, she said that the lungs are fine, no problems with breathing, she pushed , squeezed and prodded, which resulted in no abnormalaties, totaly bizarre. I am taking Tramadol and bi-profenid which seems to help for 3 to 5 hours when sleeping, but the pain returns. I have not done any physical activity to strain or pulled any muscles and i am totally baffled????? CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE;!!!!!,PS, since taking the medication the pain when inhaling has gone.

HI,
i had the same symptons  a few years ago, i know its not much help but i can share what i was told, its nearly always muscular if you get pain only when you inhale, and even turning over in your sleep can be enough to pull a muscle, or a condition they call  sprung rib, the tramadol wears off after about 3/4 hours so thats why the pain always comes back,
sorry i cant give you a definate answer, but i hope it helps you to know i   had the same thing,bad news i had it almost 2 weeks.
