Rectal Pain

I'm 25 and I just had a baby. There wasn't any complications and I don't have hemorrhoids. I didn't have an epidural. Besides some history with cervical cysts my health is good. I don't exercise but I work on my feet almost 8 hours a day, constantly moving. I'm not overweight, well I am a little now, like I said I just had a baby and haven't lost all the extra weight yet. Pre-baby I weighed 115, I'm 5' 3". I don't have anemia, high blood pressure or high cholesterol. Ok so here is my problem. And I should note that this happened to me before I got pregnant as well, just not as often. For the last 4 days or so I've had this throbbing pain that has continually gotten worse and more prevalent day by day. The pain from what I can feel is caused by gas, but it's not my stomach or intestinal region. It's in my rectum. When I expel gas the pain usually subsides. Today which has been the worst day so far the pain has been constant. When I went to the bathroom (I mean number 2) earlier I almost passed out it was so painful. Mind you like I said I just gave birth without an epidural and without screaming, crying or showing other signs of pain. I have a pretty high tolerance of pain. I'm not constipated either. Today it's gotten so bad that I'm having problems walking around my house. The only way to alleviate the pain is to bend over and stop walking. I'm fine when I'm sitting besides when I'm about to expel gas. I have to let it out or it hurts so bad I want to punch someone. It's been 11 days since I gave birth. I don't know how else to describe the pain I'm in and I hope someone can relate or knows something about that I'm talking about. Please help!

Your very welcome for the Welcome!

I didn't mention that my cysts just POPPED up and grew QUICKLY.  It was within a matter of 3 weeks time that it ALL transpired INCLUDING the surgery.  :)

I'm REALLY happy that your Doctor ISN'T going to mess around with it after you try the Gas-X.  I know what you mean about the Gas-X. It's never worked very well for me either. :(

I HOPE that you will let us know how you are doing AND what you find out about the cause of this pain.  I TRULY feel for you.

Looking forward to your update..............Sherry

Well thank you all, and Sherry thanks for the welcome and the info about the forum. I did call my OB today and the nurse told me to use Gas-X for the day and if it didn't work to call back tomorrow. Needless to say Gas-X does not take care of the kind of pain. It doesn't even take care of the gas. LoL.I'm wondering if it has something to do with cysts. But where as I was just pregnant and getting regular ultrasounds I wonder if they would have seen them. I mean maybe not, I had ovarian cysts and they're looking at your uterus and baby during those ultrasounds. I'll definitely mention it when I talk to my doctor though. Thanks again everybody

Hi bakey,

First I want to welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know that we are VERY glad that you have found us.  I need to let you know that there are NO Doctors on this Forum. We are ALL CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that share our expertise from our OWN expereinces. :)

Before I say anything else, CONGRATULATIONS on your Beautiful Baby!!

I'm TERRIBLY sorry to hear of the pain that you are suffering.  I had something QUITE similar to what you are experiencing and it turned out that I had a benign ovarian cyst.  I, too, would ALMOST pass out when I would have a bowel movement as the pain was SO debilitating.  It would bring me to tears EVERY time.

As Jaybay said, you MUST go to your Doctor and get to the bottom of this pain.  PLEASE don't wait as you SHOULDN'T have to bear this pain any longer than is ABSOLUTELY necessary!!

I wish you that best..............Sherry

Good grief!  I can't imagine how awful you must be feeling.  I wish I could help but all I can do is encourage you to call your doctor.  Something is obviously wrong so please don't put off making that call!
