Sepsis

I have Crohn's and had been on Remicade for 5 years which has helped. I lost my insurance several years ago and have not had the money for the treatment ($5800.00) or afford the insurance ($1282.00/month) needed to get back on Remicade.  In May I went into sepsis or septic shock and by the grace of God lived though it.  But how can I avoid Sepsis in the future? Plus how do I deal with the pain?

I just noted that you had an identical post on our Forum. I also made a brief comment on that post.

Hi Miakle,

Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am so sorry to hear about your issues with Crohns. As you know this is one of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease. My heart goes out to you.

My son has a similar condition, Ulcerative Colitis  and I can relate to the pain and problems it has presented in his life. He was DX at the age of 12.... and at that time they called it the Million Dollar Disease. It was estimated it would cost a million dollars in his lifetime to treat his condition. I am sure those numbers have increased.

As much as I would like to offer suggestions I really think your post belongs on our Crohns/Ulcerative Colitis Forum. My son has posted on that forum in the past. He too has been without insurance at times and has had to find alternative treatment. I am providing the link but I will also suggest that your post be moved to that forum.

I might suggest that you check with your state to see if what programs or benefits are available to you. In our state (WI) there is now some state insurance available to those that qualify and other benefits.

I wish you the very best and hope you will find a solution. Please let us know how you are doing.

Take Care,
~Tuck
