So, I went to the hospital on Monday. I was having severe lower right quadrant pain in my abdomen. They thought it might be appendicitis, but my CT scan came back normal. They said I didn't have a fever and wasn't really vomiting so they weren't going to do anything. They couldn't figure out what was wrong and sent me home with pain medicine, and told me to follow up with my family physician.
Tuesday I went to a different ER because it had gotten about twice as bad; same pain, only worse. Now it hurt so bad I couldn't breathe when I walked and it made things dizzy to try. I was feeling very nautious but wasn't vomiting. They didn't even bother to look at my appendix because the first hospital said it was ok. This hospital looked at my gall bladder and said it was ok, and they couldn't find my ovaries (don't ask me how) so they said there had to be nothing wrong with them. They told me I most likely pulled a muscle in my back and was mis-locating the pain.
I read online it is possible to have appendicitis without your appendix really swelling (or not swelling within the first 12 hours of a pain onset), so I made an appointment with my family doctor. She didn't even listen to me today and gave me medicine for the generic flu. As of today I am vomiting and have a low grade fever.
My lower right side of my abdomen hurts when I touch it, gets worse when I walk, gets worse when I am in a car... I have a fever, am vomiting, get dizzy, and I have the WORST headache you can imagine. The hospital on Monday gave me Vicodin to monitor the pain, but even with the medicine I am still running between a 7-8, and this is after comparing that to having had a baby. I feel like no matter what I do, it just isn't getting better. It is actually getting progressively worse.
I am no doctor, but really think that this is all appendix-related. Should I go back to the hospital, or do I let it go? My own family doctor said if the first hospital thought it looked ok, then it was ok. The second hospital said the same thing-- should I go to yet another hospital and demand another CT scan? What do you think it could be? Any suggestions?
It hurts so bad I can't keep doing this. It doesn't feel at all like a flu, and I realize something is seriously wrong here. I know if it is my appendix, I am running on a timeline as it is only a matter of time (supposing that is what it is) before it ruptures. I don't want someone to look at me later and go "Oh yeah, it is xxxxxxx but if we just would have caught it in time, this wouldn't be a problem."
Thanks for letting me vent here, I appreciate it.
