Stabbing pain on top of foot and hand

I hope I am in the right section I did not see anything for just pain.
I just started recently started waking up in the middle of the night with a horrible stabbing pain on the top of my left foot. When I hang my legs over the edge of the bed the pain starts to go away and it feels like my legs are full of fluid and I can feel it drain out or should I say up and then the pain is totally gone.  When I go back to sleep it happens again a few hours later. I am getting little sleep.  And now my right hand has begun to get the same stabbing pain but it never goes away and it has tingling and numbness to it to the point I can not pick up anything very heavy. The feeling is like when you hit your funny bone and you have that ring pain.

It sounds to me like gout also.  I've had it over 20 yrs.  Watch your diet and you'll be fine.
If you have insurance get a blood test for uric acid.
The best med when you're having an attack is indomethicin.  Pain meds don't help

Hello - I called my mother - who also has this ailment (as I do).  She says it is GOUT.  After researching gout on the web - I believe this is accurate.  It sounds like diet plays an important role.  Good luck on your end.

I don't know, but I am having the EXACT same problem - for the past several nights.  I logged on here hoping to find an answer.  Pain in bed on the top of my left foot.  Pain relieved by getting out of bed.  Also - numbness and tingling in my right index finger and thumb.  Since someone else has the EXACT symptoms, it must be something may others have.  Let me know if you have found any info on it and I will research & do the same.
