Sudden chest pain

Hi all, I'm a 28yo male from Australia and for the last few years i have been having "episodes" of chest pain. It's not a regular thing, it usually happens once every few months. The pain is always the same. It is left sided chest pain radiating into my neck and lower jaw. I have been to the doctor and my local ED and have had ecgs and blood tests performed but it comes back normal except for a T-inversion in the V1 & V2 leads (been told it could just be a normal thing for me). There is a family history of heart disease but not from my parents (as far as I know because my father died a number of years ago from Liver cancer and don't have any record of his health). The pain usually lasts for about 15 minutes and I find that cold water can help to temporarily dull the pain for a couple of seconds. The last time I went to the hospital, the doctors put it down to Pericarditis. I was given a script for Colchicine and sent on my way. That was 4 days ago. I have been taking the medication for 3 days but I have just had another episode of the same chest pain so am doubting the doctors diagnosis. I know I can't be diagnosed over the internet but I am interested to know if anybody else has had these same pains and has found out what the cause is. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thankyou in advance

Thanks Jerry, This is my first time posting on this site. I was told to take the colchicine for 3 months and I wasn't given a follow-up appt with a specialist because they said I don't need one. The pains usually come on maybe twice a year and without warning while I'm doing absolutely nothing. Sorry for the late reply.

On this same page, if you scroll down about 6 posts below your's, someone else has the exact same thing, unless that's YOU posting under a different name. I think we're ALL curious what your chest pain is. Do you have to take that colchicine forever? Or can you stop, since it didn't help? At hospitals, when they "send you on your way," they usually give you the name of a "follow-up doctor." I suggest you make that followup appointment, and see this through. Is your "once every few months" like 4 times a year? Or once a year? When this happens, write down ALL the surrounding circumstances/clues -- what you ate, how many hours you slept, did you sleep on your left or right side, did you work extra hard, did you NOT work extra hard, etc. The more clues, the more chance you'll have to figure out what is happening.
