I'm at my wits end

I have been in pain for years. I have been from my family doctor, neurologist, opthamologist, sports medicine doctor, physical therapist, & the back pain clinic. My first symptoms started as what my family doctor diagnosed as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I was having such anxiety and stress that I was having panic attacks. I actually couldn't sleep at night and was imagining myself killing my family over not helping me keep the house clean. As soon as I would get one room cleaned they would have it messed up before I turned around. (Two boys and one husband who acted like a boy) I would be so tired also that I felt as if I had the flu. I thought it was coming  from having toxoplasmosis when i was pregnant with my son. The doctor had told me that at any time I could have flu like symptoms afterwards and it would be coming from the "toxo" coming out of my system. Well, then they told me that  I had chronic fatigue syndrome. My next symptoms started about 6 months later. I started hurting in different joints. I would take aspirin, aleve, and goodies. All the anti- inflammatory drugs. Then I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I had taken so many anti-inflammatories that I ruined my stomach. Then I started having muscle spasms in my back and my neck. Debilitating. They were having to  give me injections in the muscles. I was seeing a chiropractor and they were cracking my back and hooking me up to the tinge machine. I was out of work for two months. I had a CAT scan which showed that I had a hemangioma in my spine however they said that I was born with it and it was not what was causing my pain. I have osteoarthritis. My pain actually started in 1989 when I became pregnant with my first son. From the first day of conception I started throwing up. When I was five and a half months pregnant with him I had to have my gall bladder and appendix removed. I then found out I had endometriosis about a year after I had him. I had to have a cyst removed off of my left ovary also. After having my second son my womb started falling out of me. I had a hysterectomy, an anterior/posterior repair, and a umbilical hernia repair all at the same time. Then I started having migraines. I truly thought I had brain cancer. My head hurt so bad I couldn't even lay down. I had to sit up in a recliner with my eyes covered up. I was having up to 26 a month. It took over a year to get them regulated to where I have about two a month now. As of five years ago I have had a nervous breakdown. (I don't know if it came from my husband turning out "GAY" or not being able to hold down feelings of being molested twice as a child by two family members who happen to be ministers or whether it was just a combination of everything) I gained over 100lbs. during my depression. So now I have had a gastric bypass and have lost 137lbs. I thought it would help my pain however I am wearing a back brace just to walk around. I can barely squeeze my hands together. My hips hurt so bad that I can't lay on them. Does any body have any suggestions?

Hi,
I am so sorry your having so many problems. I would like you to know you have found a great place for support here and we ae all glad you joined and we want to help you in every way we possibly can!
You don't say if your taking pain medication so I am assuming the Dr's are not helping you out and also the panic attacks are you being treated for those with meds?
I would suggest you need to get a pain management Dr as soon as you possibly can. They can help you as they have many more options available to help you control your pain and that is the first thing you need to do is get your pain under control and make sure your being treated properly for the panic attacks too. Ask your Dr for a referral to the best PM Dr in your area and get an appointment ASAP.
I really hope things get better for you, it seems you have had some really tough times in life and I sympathize with you and want to help in any way I can as I am sure the other members want to help also. Please keep us updated and let us know if you need anything at all:)

Welcome to MH. I must say, you have been through the ringer. With as much stress as your under it's possible that some of the pain and fatigue might be a part of that. Also, you mentioned Fibro. From what I've heard, your muscle and joint pain are compatible with that.

Like Tuckamore suggested, "New eyes" from a Physician wouldn't be a bad idea.

Take care and Best wishes, Mollyrae

Welcome to MH. First of all, let me commend you for loosing 137 lbs. That took a lot of courage and strength. I am sorry you are having so many problems.
Your post indicates you are going to a back pain clinic. Due to your multiple pain sites, I would suggest that you locate a different pain clinic that treat your pain in its entirety. You may need "fresh eyes" or thinking out of the box to solve or manage your pain. As you know, often stress will increase pain and you certainly have had more than your share of stress. I hope that you are seeing a good therapist that will help you deal with the multiple issues that are causing stress in your life.
Others will post with suggestions and information. Please keep in touch. We all care and will support you in anyway we can. We are here 24/7.
Please take care, Tuck
