Hi! I have osteoarthritis in both jaws. It hurts me when I talk a lot, sing a lot, chew a lot, etc.. I have also had face pain. I was told my lower jaw was congenitally to small for my upper jaw, but it was too late to get an extender put in due to osteoarthritis having set in. This kind of pain can cause often depression. So, I feel some sympathy for your problem, djnmo. I found this on blepharospasm, an org website and wondered about your situation:
"Blepharospasm should not be confused with:
•Hemifacial spasm - a non-dystonic condition involving various muscles on one side of the face, often including the eyelid, and caused by irritation of the facial nerve. The muscle contractions are more rapid and transient than those of blepharospasm, and the condition is always confined to one side"
I would also invite you to join our community, the pain management community too:)
We all have different kinds of pain and we do support each other and help each other and newcomers too. I do hope you will stick around, we would sure love to have you here too.
Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am sorry to hear about your painful journey with TMJ.
MedHelp has a forum titled: Temporomandibular Joint & Muscle Forum. You can find that by clicking on the word Forums at the top of this page next to Home. If it is anything like the PM Forum it will offer your support and information.
