What are other ways to control severe chronic pain w/o narcotics?

I have detoxed off the evil Fentanyl patch over 3 months ago. I suffer constanly from Intersticial Cystis and Vulvodynia, and IBS problems. I can't do anything, or function. I have taken 800 motrin, Zanaflex, or Flexaril, bladder meds, advil, naprosen, nuerontin, elavil, lyrica. None of it helps. I live with the heating pad and take hot baths. My tolerance is so high from being on the Fentanyl. I don't want to be on pain meds anymore and don't want to go through the HELL detox again. I have heard that you can get a precription for a jacuzzi from your doctor for pain, and that the government can help or pay for it. Does anyone know about this and how to get it. I read about it in a post a ling time ago but want to know more about it and how to get it. I am on SSI and Medicaid b/c in 99' blue cross /blue shield dropped me and then denied me 3 more times, so I had to get SSI to get medicaid. If anyone can help me , I would really, really appreciate this!!!
Thanks,
Shell

A jucuzzi script is basically a script for the hot tubs that the physical therpist have.
You can get a script for this and look into state assistence programs that may help with the cost. Hospitals also have these tubs that are like jucuzzi's and they often times have them or similar ones at your local YMCA.

Hey Shell,

I wish there were some miracle pill that would take away the pain and not let you become dependant on it. If someone were to invent that sort of med, he/she would be a Trillionair.....
I think the best thing to do is to keep watch on the web, media ect...for any new pain med that might be on the horizon.
I have not heard of the Government Jacuzzi Fund, I would really like some info on that. Maybe I will surf the web myself today. I wonder if medicare would have anything to do with the Jacuzzi prescription?
I can relate to your tolorance being so high. It makes it hard for the breakthrough meds to work. I hope your feeling well soon. My thoughts are with you. Take care of yourself,

OH, and if I hear any news on your question I will let you know.

Hi Shellbell,

I am so sorry that you are in pain and unable to treat it with pain medications. I have a jacuzzi. I was told the same thing. I was on private insurance and had no luck with any payment from them. I bought it myself. Mine, with the gazebo top enclosure was pretty pricey at 6k in 2002. The enclosure allows me to utilize it all year round, even in a beautiful WI snow storm.

I hope others will have more encouraging information for you. I looked at every possibility and neither my husbands or mine would pay, even with a prescription. Maybe medicaid or SSI will be more open to picking up the cost. I wish you luck. Please let us know if you are successful. Take care, Tuck
