What causes foot pain?

I have been experiencing pain in the bottom of my feet for several months.
The sensation is like my feet are on fire. I can touch the bottom of my feet and they can feel cold to the touch yet have
a severe burning sensation.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?

Yes, I am. I too have had a whole bunch of blood tests, 2 nerve conduction studies,
MRI's, Evoked Potential Tests, and I am now having nerve blocks. I have been to
my Primary Care Physician, Neurologist, Orthopeadic Surgeon and Anthesiologist (Pain Management Specialist). My foot pain persists. I am going to see my Neurologist and Orthopaedic Physicians this week and this is a question I am going to ask both of them.
I also suffer from Lumbar Buldging disks, bone spurs, and osteoarthritis of the lower back, hip and knees. The Epidural Lumber Steroid Injections have greatly reduced back and hip pain. My feet still burn almost all the time. It is painful and so far no one has been able to answer the question as to why. All I hear from physicians is "This makes no sense". I will keep you posted if I discover anything that helps this problem.

I have been suffering with this for almost two years. Only this year I'm feeling this way every day. My feet burn very badly and get sooo red on the bottoms. I have seen Podiatrists, Neurologists and Rheumatoligist inthe past with no result. All my blood tests come back clean. I dont know what to do about it anymore. On top of having chronic heel pain, I have this too and I have seen sooo many doctors. Known of which can help me stop it. I was hoping to get some help, advice or referrals from this website.
Are you still having this problem?

You need to wear good shoes with strong arch support. Flex your feet in morning and evening. Been there done that. good luck.

Hi Gigi,

I am sorry that your feet are burning. I have had the same. Mine was not serious and was a result of being on my feet all day in the wrong foot wear.

There are conditions as serious and complex as the neuropathy (nerve damage) from diabetes, vitamin deficiencies or heavy metal poisoning to name a few that can cause burning on the bottom of your feet. And there are simple things such being on your feet all day as in my case with a nylon stocking foot (panty hose) in a ill fitting shoe or a dermatitis or fungus.

Nightly Epsom salt foot soaks and cooling foot lotions helped the burning of my feet. I encourage you to consult a Podiatrist or your PCP for a referral to the appropriate physician. Good luck and please keep us posted.
Peace, Tuck
