Pain on the right side under ribs (gallbladder removed 3 months ago)

QD3
I'm a 42 female and had a GIST in my stomach that the surgeon removed along with a part of my stomach and also my gallbladder was removed almost 3 months ago. The GIST came back as non-cancerous. I just started experiencing moderate pain right under my right side under the last rib right where my gallbladder was. The pain comes and goes every 4 seconds and lasted for 4 hours. It started out earlier today with being sore around that area and then the pain started.

Thanks Jaybay for the info. I couldn't figure out why I'd have any pain there if the gallbladder was removed. I'll be making an appointment with a GI.

You may have sludge - basically grains of the same stuff that forms gallstones - in your bile duct.  You'll need to see your gastroenterologist about it.  It's not at all uncommon in people with gallbladder problems and the gastro doc can do a procedure called an ERCP to clear it out.  It's basically endoscopy on steroids so no surgical incisions are required.
