Hello and Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am sorry to hear about your ongoing symptoms. Ten years is much to long to suffer with undiagnosed... and just as importantly, untreated pain. I too wonder if it may be unrelated to your previous bout of pneumonia.
Your symptoms sound more GI related. Have you had a good GI work-up with a Gastrointestinal Physician? GERD can and does cause the discomfort and pain you describe as can a Hiatal Hernia.
If you believe it is related to a pulmonary issue have you consulted a Pulmonologist? If not I would also consult one. There are other imaging and testing that can be done. An x-ray is a good diagnostic tool for a few general conditions but not nearly as detailed or as exploratory as many other testing tools.
I wish you well and hope you'll keep us updated on your search for answers. I'll look forward to hearing from you.
Best of Luck to You,
~Tuck
Hi mbnurse208, I'm not a Dr. but I have had Pnemonia several times ( once you have it, chances are you will be subjected to have it again and again.)To me pnemonia feels like a house is sitting on my chest and each breath is a struggle and short gasp. Not a Fun thing to have. Are you sure your not just having trapped gas pain? When I am sick and have to lay in bed for days on end, I will get tapped gas between my shoulder blades and under my breasts. Try rocking in a rocking chair or taking "Gasx" a over the counter med that helps get the gas out. Trapped Gas is very painful. And it can move arround on you . Hope I helpped. After Having Pnemonia it takes days to stop the shortness of breath..It's scarry to not be able to take a deep breath!
