foot pain

Hi, I'm 15 years old and I've been having foot pain on the middle top part of my foot for about 2 years now. The foot pain is only present with strenuous exercise, especially after a long period of rest. When there is pain, some burning feeling is also present. I think that this pain started when I either dropped some textbooks on my foot or when I jumped down on it too hard. There is no swelling or redness. My school nurse insists its a stress fracture but from what I've read online, stress fractures usually occur with swelling. I'm worried this is some kind of cancer or something else serious. Thanks!

Sweetie, please tell your mom that an insole is a great idea. It sounds like you need x-tra support in your feet. You can buy them in any shoe department store. Good luck, Mollyrae

I think it's probably best at your age to make sure you let an adult know about the problem you are having with the pain in your foot.  It is great that you went to the school nurse maybe she can contact a parent for you and make sure you get a proper medical evaluation.  Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

I had teh same problem and it hurt like heck.  Went through x-rays etc...  the doctor put a pad in my shoe that lifted up the middle of my foot from underneath, just behind the pad of my foot to make my foot less falt and more rounded on the top.  After a few weeks it worked.  Do you go barefoot alot or wear flips or any shoe withour arch support??

I am no dr. but this sounds tendon related to me. I was an athlete back in my day and I would get the same kind of pain. It was related to my tendon tightening up after strenuos exersise. Take care, Mollyrae

You really need to have a Dr look at it and have it x-rayed. There is definitely something going on when your having pain that long. Please don't wait have your mom call and get you an appointment right away!
