I've tried all over the counter anti inflammatory meds and all prescription ones. I'm on Celebrex 400mg a day right now. It's working alright. I would ask them for one. I had to try almost every single one on the market before my insurance would approve Celebrex. And there is no generic so it's much more expensive.

I have bursitis really bad.  Since gastric bypass surgery I have to be careful and can only take anti-imflammatory twice a week.  Have been taking Celebrex since it came out on the market...worked great for me....but now too high co-pay so I am trying Mobic (generic).   It seems to be doing ok...been taking for over a week now.  My sister & mother say it works really good them.  Ask your doc to let you try it..not sure if they provide samples...but wouldn't hurt to ask.  Good luck

I'm taking traumeel right now it's arnica based. It has a few other things in it that are susposed to aid in heeling. It seems to work well and it's gentle on my stomache, you may want to show the ingredients to your doctor and see if it's okay for you.

i was told not to take any over the counter meds that may contain asprin or some other stuff so i don't take any otc meds at all , may interfere with what im on prescription wise any way my dr quit her practice last week for good , now to find another to get thru New Years i had to go to local Emergency room for refill prescriptions of oxycodone and fentanyl pain patch , maybe you think that was easy to convince a doctor i never saw that i needed to take the oxycodone first and fore most missed a few doses and was time to change my patches , had the doctor i was seeing told me she was gonna quit i would have made other arrangements with the fill -in doctor who now runs his practice out of her office , in my town , oh no that would be too simple , im made to get all uptight swear and ***** stressed out and yell at them for the problem they caused by keeping this quiting dr a big secret well ill tell you i let things fly like it was a fire in a theater , or school play , they heard me loud and clear from now on im told i WILL GET MY MEDS ON TIME EVERY TIME   i doubt it but it sounded good comming from a trembling doctor in the emergency room at the local hospital ,, now i have  to pay a 50 dollar co pay , that i don't feel right in paying , they caused the emergency for me by keeping their mouth shut this one time it worked against me , we will see what happens when im billed and call to say sorry i ain't got it (write it off ) like they do for mexican illeagles , yep they are here too upstate New york a sanctuary city for sure ER was full of sick kids with no coats ,or winter type clothes , no sweaters , but they had pretty SHORTS on most all were in same family i think , but hey it's new york , it  is January , NOT   JUNE hope i don't get sick from my had to go there visit  dammit  thanks for the replies ill look into what the dr tells me in the morning as i have to get my refill prescriptions yet for the rest of the month so same darn thing again tomorrow , wish me luck another yelling spree may send me over the edge this time       tnh  timmo58

Have you tried any of the over the counter anti inflammtories such as Advil or Aleve?  Before going to any of the prescription ones, you may want to give those a try - but PLEASE check with your doctor first to make sure it's ok for you to take them.  If you find that the over the counter anti inflammatories don't help, there are definitely prescription ones that are available.  As far as asking for a specific one, I would suggest leaving that detail up to your doctor - simply ask him/her what they might suggest you try.

Keep in mind, however, that ALL anti inflammatories have a pretty high tendency to cause stomach upset and irritation, so if you have any stomach issues, you may also want to check about what stomach meds you can take along with them, such as Prilosec or Prevacid or something alone those lines.
