medication advise

I have been taking 10x325 hydrocodone and 100mg tramadol for chronic pain. I was recently given an option to try the fentanyl patch.  It scard me so badly i took it off after a month and a half use.  The withdrawal was THE most horrific i have ever been thru.  Compared to methadone it was scary! So i decided to go back to the hydrocodone and tramadol  for this month. Knowing it would be a hard month for me with pain but needed time to think about my options.  Now im not sure where to go.  What are ur thoughts  out there about oxycodone and the other oxy.  I know one is time released and one is short acting.  Will i fall into the same kind of medication withdrawal from the oxy family as i did with the fentanyl?  I know there will be a time when i will get off my medication after surgery hopfully, but dont want to go thru that scary withdrawal like with fentanyl.  I dont want to go back on methadone due to the lathargic feeling and my mind was so foggy all the time. I was very forgetful on methadone.  So it would help if i can get some in put on where to go next.  My appt is coming up in about two weeks and would like to have an idea of these meds to talk to the Dr about.

All of these medications are for pain but they are different. I'm sorry you had such a hard time with the patch. That does not mean you will go through the same thing with your current meds or future meds. When it's time to go off of them your Dr will be, or should be there to help you with a taper plan.
Are you saying that your current medications are no longer working as well as they did before? Did your Dr talk to you about switching to Oxycodone, or is this something you've considered on your own? We're all so different that it's hard to say if you will do well on this medication. I've read many posts here and there have been many people who take this medication and do well on it while others say they don't.
