I am an Engineer that has worked in the industry for over 12 years. The last 6 years I have been on pain medications. First Tramadol and then vicodin, and now morphine and percocet. I continue to do a great job and produce fantastic products. My managers know about my chronic pain and are very accepting of the pain medications I take as they don't affect my job performance and they know that I am responsible with my meds.
I am on 60 mg of morphine and 20-30 mg of oxycodone within percocet. I honestly think that you shouldn't bring up your pain meds at an interview unless asked. When drug tested they will show up and they should just request documentation proving that you are prescribed the medications found on the test for a qualifying condition.
I agree with Tuck that the laws around Commercial Truck Drivers are strict and that these types of jobs would not be an option for you but there are many others out there that are. You have the protection of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act and employers cannot discriminate against you for having a disability. If they do, you can seek legal retribution.
Good luck on your job search!

Hi Molly,
Welcome.
Rather you can maintain employment should be a decision between you and your physician. If your PCP believes you are physical able to work then you have every right to apply for a job.
I don't know your skills or qualifications. Obviously you couldn't find employment as a delivery driver due to insurance insurances and opiates. You may want to visit your local county job service.
There are laws that protect ppl with disabilities, if you have one.
Best of luck to you.
