Hi Bjwsp,
Welcome to Medhelp. I am glad you found us at the Pain Management Forum. Sneezes bring on pain and tingling in your arms must be a strange event.
I don't know about the celiac plexus causing your symptoms. I would imagine it is possible. The celiac plexus (also known as the solar plexus) is a complex network of nerves (a plexus) located in the abdomen. The celiac plexus is located near where the celiac trunk, superior mesenteric artery, and renal arteries branch from the abdominal aorta. It is behind the stomach and the omental bursa and in front of the crura of the diaphragm, on the level of the first lumbar vertebra, L1.
I would also wonder if when you sneeze is it disrupting a vertebra or a disc in your cervical spine or even the first lumbar vertebra near the celiac plexus that Jaybay mentioned. When you sneeze that causes abrupt and forceful movement of many areas. If you had a pending issue with the cervical spine or first lumbar vertebra the motion of sneezing may cause pressure on a nerve that effects your arms. That is purely speculation. If it is bothersome to you I would suggest that you make an appointment with your PCP and discuss it with him/her.
Good luck to you. Please keep us updated on your findings. Take Care, Tuck
I actually experience this same thing if I sneeze REALLY hard - like allergy-hard. LOL! All I can think of is that sneezing involves the upper abdominal muscles & diaphragm, which is right on top of the bundle of nerves called the solar plexus. The pain only lasts for the split second those muscles are involved and then it's gone.
Does your pain last more than the time of the sneeze? Do you tend to bend your neck and head forward and down during the sneeze?
