numbing due to black eye

Hi! I was struck in the face 6 days ago which resulted in a black eye. My eye tends to water periodically during the day but, it goes away. My concern is the numbness above my lip. It feels like I just came from a dentist and the nujmbing will not go away. How long will the numbing last?

Hello and Welcome to the Pain Management Community.

Numbness usually is related to nerve involvement. I encourage you to consult your PCP. After six days any acute symptoms should be resolving. Your PCP will determine if you require speciality consults or imaging.

Best of Luck to You,

Have you been to your doctor?  I had a black eye 5 weeks ago, but I didn't have any numbness. They did a check to see if I had broken bones, problems w/my jaw and a neuro exam.  You need to get checked out, there is a lot of things that caqngo wrong with a blow to the face.

Let us know what happens!
