Only if it is prescribed by your doctor.

When pregnancy or an up coming surgical procedure requires us to limit or discontinue pain medication, the fear of getting along without it can add to the pain we feel. What has helped me is to fully enter into relaxation scenarios with help thru the guided imagery CDs from The American Chronic Pain Association - www.theacpa.org/  I could eliminate dosages by reducing tension. My doctor suggested that the first 2 - 3 months of pregnancy was the essential time to be off meds and then using them sparingly after that. I also used relaxing Herbal Teas, like chamomile.

I am9 weeks pregnant with the same dilemma. I have multiple medical problems that require pain meds or I would not be able to get out of bed. My pain specialist says its ok but my OB doctor wants me to quit taking it not because it harmful but because its addictive. If I could change OB doctors I would but I can't. He didn't even ask me how much pain I live with on a daily basis. I have been researching Vicodin and pregnancy and have found both answers. Some people say its safe and others say its not but I believe that it is safer than taking my lyrica. If you find anything out I would love to hear

I am 6 months pregnant with sciatica and herniated disks. Before iwas pregnant, my dr had me on er morophine, soma, vicodin and as needed demerol. My ob kept me on the vicodin throughout my entire pregnancy so it should be fine to take, but only if recommended by your ob.  If i could tolerate this pain and could be certain that i wouldn't fall everytime i walk, i would not be taking this medication while pregnant.  Do not take it without your ob knowing

Only if it was prescribed by a doctor, and the doctor knows you are pregnant. Somehow I think this isn't the case though. Just the fact that you took the time to ask this tells me that you will make a great mother. Don't take anything  you think may harm your child. Consult your doctor before taking anything at this point-even some over the counter medications can be harmful.

All I can say is, I wouldn't and I would not recommend it.

Not a 'great' idea, but I had to occassionally. I would get horrific migraines, and since vicodin has Tylenol, its ok. Just as long as its a small dose occassionally. If u take a large dose or a frequent amount, it is not good. U just don't want a baby born addicted to opiates. If u are addicted, then REALLY think about stopping for the babies sake. I would go to your ob. Can I ask what you take it for and how often? I'm not in the medical field, but I have been in your shoes.
