pain

I've been taking 5 percocet 10/325's a day for a year or so. It does great for my pain but I love the euphoria it gives me and motivation. My body is wired to where I get wired when I take it. My question is would switching to opana er still relive the pain and not give me the wired out and euphoric side effects that I'm starting to enjoy so much? I've heard opana er and ir have the opposite effects. Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I do like the buzz it gives me that's why I want to try opana because it's supposed to have opposite effects. I want pain relief and am afraid if I don't change out meds it will get bad. I want pain relief not to get high.

Depending on the dose of Opana you will be taking it should still give you the euphoria as it is a stronger opioid than oxycodone; however, I would recommend you to be careful with it, and take it exactly as prescribed (don't split the pill in half or crush it to remove the time release coating) as you will get the full dose all at once which could be dangerous.

I also recommend that you monitor your enjoyment from the pain meds because it sounds like you like to take it due to the euphoria and energy it gives you.  This could mark the beginning of abusing the drug to get that euphoria back as it will dwindle as your tolerance for it goes up.  When this starts to happen don't take any extra medication unless prescribed by your doctor.  You should also be honest with your doctor and let him/her know that you enjoy taking the pain meds.  This way your doctor could help you avoid abusing your medication by writing a prescription for shorter durations to be filled regularly.
