Ongoing Chest Pain

I had a open chest surgery at the age of 24 to remove a thymoma, a tumor from the thymus gland. They had to wire me back together, and a year later I started getting bad chest pain and was diagnosed with chostocondritis. I was given norco to take as needed. Then felt better and stopped the meds. This year in May I fractured my sternum and it fractured so bad that it turned the wires around in my chest. It doesnt seem to be getting better in fact the bone seems to be growing or something around it and around my rib cage it looks like its indenting. I am in a lot of pain Im taking Motrin and its not helping. What do I do? I know I need to see my dr. the last visit he said we just have to keep an eye on it and maybe order other tests. This is very painful. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Hi Mindoevermatter,

I am sorry to hear about your pain and unusual condition. The response to your question to me is obvious. You must contact your PCP and make an appointment. Nothing I say can help you. You will most likely need some testing to determine what is happening in your chest. Stronger pain medications may be required to promote comfort as you await the results of your diagnostic testing.

Please keep in touch with us and let us know how you are doing, I will be interested to hear how you are doing and the results of your appointment and tests, if you care to share them with us.

Good luck and take care,
Tuck
