rib cage

I had a colonostomy in late May. Since this I have a pain under my left rib cage. Everyone told me that I would have gas for a while. Its been almost two months and the pain is worse. I cant afford to return to the doc. Is there anything I can do to relieve the pain or get rid of it.

I agree with Sherry on calling the dr, he is the one that did the test and maybe he will have some ideas of what is wrong. I also had a colostomy and had that gas but it didnt last 2 months. So just give them a call and tell them what is going on and see what can be done.

Hi Melissa,

We want to welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know how glad we are that you have found this Forum. I want you to know that there are NO Doctors on this Forum just CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that share our expertise and experience and knowledge that we have accumulated thru our own Pain issues.

I'm sorry to hear that you had to have a colostomy and sorry to hear that you are still experiencing pain this long afterwards. Do you not need to go for a checkup after your surgery? I know that gas pain after a colostomy is EXTREMELY painful, but I HOPE that you will PLEASE at least CALL your Doctor and ask what you need to do for this lasting pain and be sure that it is STILL only gas and not something else.

I hope that you will keep us updated as to how you are doing!!!!....Sherry
