Hi Melisa,

Welcome to MedHelp's Pain Management Forum. I am sorry to hear that you are hurting.

I would ask your PCP if you were born with this structure abnormality why is it painful now? One would think if it was a pain producing problem you would have noticed it before this point. So if I were in your situation I would want to know what's changed and why now? And what can be done about it?

A second opinion can't hurt. I might even consult a surgeon... just to know your options. Again I am sorry you are in pain... you should not have to suffer needlessly. There must be more that can be done. Be assertive and insist upon answers. Sometimes a PCP does not take pain in a young person seriously. So again, be assertive.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.

Take Care,
~Tuck

Hi melisa1,

First, I want to welcome you to the PM (Pain Management) Forum and let you know that we are glad you found this Forum. We are all CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that help each other with our own expertise and experiences that we have developed through our own CP Issues.

I'm sorry that you are experiencing this pain!  If I understand you correctly, are you saying that you have a rib sticking out and poking you?  Are you, also, saying that your side gets "big" when it starts to hurt?  Can you elaborate on that a little more?

Have you asked your Doctor what he would suggest to eliminate this problem?  If not, or if he doesn't have any solution for you, may I suggest that you take your x-ray to another Doctor, perhaps and Orthopedic Specialist, to see if he/she has any ideas on how to "fix" this for you? As you said, you are experiencing extreme pain when it hurts. Sometimes a second opinion is what you need to get the answers that you are seeking.  :)

I wish you the very best and hope that you will let us know what your Doctor tells you.

I'll be looking for your updates..........Sherry  :)
