I know meds are different for everyone. I just wanted another opinion comparing the two meds. The Drs. dont always know what meds are better considering they affect people in different ways. I have read up on both meds and noticed they were very similiar but just thought I might find someone on this forum that had experience with both. Thanks for your concern.
Just wondering what diagnosis you had with hips. I have only talked to nurse on phone about my hips. Since surgery this has started. They say some more extruded disc material could be interferring with sciatica nerve. However I cant afford to be out of work since I was just out for 4 mths. So meds is my only relief. Will have to finish this yr. that way then look into another MRI after Jan. Let me know about injections. Thanks for your concern.
I too have this problem my hips hurt so bad and my dr who hates steroid injections as they cause more harm than good gives me injections in my hips and I dont know the name of the drug but it is miraculous, I 'll find out the name of it for you. Its usually used for another disease but works wonders for the hip pain.
Both those medications work in the same way by blocking pain sensations(or nerve impulses) sent to the brain.
Somas are not prescribed as frequently because they are considred as more habit forming.
Only your DR can tell you which medicine you should be on.
Hope this has helped.
