Precipitated withdrawal can and does occur if you take opiates, even synthetic ones without being free of any opiates for a extended time interval. I can not give you what that time frame is , so you need to consult your suboxone prescriber.
Be prepared to answer why you accepted and took a prescribed pain medication from someone though. Doing that is illegal and grounds for dismissal from most suboxone programs.
No one should accept any medication from anyone- if ANYONE was going to give you any medication, it should have been the dentist IF they were needed.
I realize this response sounds harsh, but I am sure you were made aware of the dangers of mixing suboxone and any opiate, the dangers of precipitated withdrawal and everyone is well aware that taking medication not prescribed to you is illegal and dangerous.
Tramadol is addicting and is well known as an opiate.
I am sorry you are in this situation.
Hi I know this is an old post but I just stumbled upon it looking for answers of my own. I have been on suboxone for 3 years. Yesterday, I had 2 teeth pulled and my mother in law gave me some tramadol. Without even thinking (and I think I was under the impression that it wasn’t an opioid) I took a 50mg. My question is.. when can I safely take my suboxone dose?
atonicat is right. While taking Suboxone, any other opiates you take just don't have any brain receptors to cling to so there's no point in taking the tramadol. I can't imagine tramadol would do any good for your migraines anyway. I'm also surprised any doctor would prescribe an opiate while you're taking Suboxone. Do any of the triptan meds help your migraines?
I don't really think the tramadol will work while you're taking suboxone. Suboxone makes it impossible for other opioids to bind while it's in your system. Tramadol is a very weak opioid as it is, so I doubt you will get any benefit from it at all while on suboxone.
