very tender breasts and odd menstrual cycle

My breasts have been unusually a lot more tender lately. I have had tender breasts as long as i can remember but its just been getting worse in the past couple weeks. Normally they would ache if i hugged someone or with any pressure...now they just hurt even when i am wearing nothing but a t-shirt. They even throb at points and they seem swollen.

Now i am on a birth control called the implanon which is a small rod placed in my arm that works for 3 yrs. I got it in February and everything was okay except my menstrual cycle which is completely messed up now...i skip months and then ill have it for a week...stop for a day...then itll come back
But this time my body just does not feel right...i just ended my 10 day long period but my breasts have been hurting baaaaad for weeks

and ive been eating a LOT more than i used to

Anyone have any advice on what they believe might be wrong?

I had a similar problem when I was taking the Yaz pill.  Breast tenderness and soreness is usually a sign of pregnancy for me so I was very confused and kept taking pregnancy tests that came up negative.  I do recommend a pregnancy test, even if you're on the implanon, as it's very unlikely you could be pregnant, but still slightly possible.
I would say it is most likely the implanon.  The only way to know for sure is to go to the doctor.  They sell gel packs at Maternity stores and other specialty lingerie stores for breasts and those work pretty well when heated up a little, or when cooled in the freezer.  My best friend had a lot of pain and soreness when she had a breast augmentation and she used ice.  (Frozen peas work the best as they conform to your shape well.)
Another thought is that it could be your bra or lack thereof.  Make sure your bra fits well around your chest and that the sides, if underwire come up no farther than an inch or so below your under-arm.  Well-fitting bras are SO underrated.  (This is especially important if you are larger cup size)
Hope this helps some!

Hi Nikki,

O want to welcome yo to the Pain Management Forum and let you know that we are happy that you have found this Forum. I need to let you know that there are NO Doctors on this Forum ONLY CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that help each other with our expertise and knowledge of our own Pain conditions.

If I may make a suggestion, you may ALSO want to post this over on the Women's Health Forum.

We're glad that you posted here but it might not hurt to post this on two different Forums.

REMEMBER that I'm NOT a Doctor! It sounds a little as if you are having some sort of problem with the implanon. Possibly the messed up period is causing all of these other problems in ovulation and that is causing the soreness in your breast.

You REALLY need to go back to your GYN and tell him/her what has been happening and let him/her take it from there.

I'm sorry that I don't have anything better than that to tell you but someone else might have something different to suggest.

I do hope that you will consider posting over on the Women's Health Forum it might be VERY beneficial to you!!

PLEASE check with you Doctor and let us know what he/she says as we will be concerned about you until we hear from you again.

Good Luck......Sherry
