9 year old soiling pants

I am at the end of my rope.  My nine year old son poops his pants every day.  This has been going on for over two years now.  We have been to doctors, gastroenterologist, and, counselors.  Nothing has helped!  We have used miralax, stool sofeners, and fiber.  We have made hime set on the toilet several times a day.  We have tryed rewards and punishment.  Nothing has worked.  He has been wearing pullups for over year becasue we can not afford to keep buying underwear.  He pretends nothing is out of the ordindary.  He will not clean himself up until someone smells him and tells him to do so.  Now we are having major issues at school because of this.  His father and I are so frustrated with this and just do not know what else to do.  There has been no trauma or abuse.  We have tryed to just say ok our child poops his pants and that is the way it is and just accept it becasue nothing has worked, but that is not working either.  It is causing our whole family much turmoil.  Please does anyone have any suggestions other than what has been posted.

Thanks no accidents since the last post, but i have decided that I am no longer going to reward her this starting the first of the year.  If she can do this now then she can continue the behavior on her own.  I hope and pray she does not revert back, but if she does I will know that it is not health issue.  I will keep posting though.  This web site has been a god send.

I was really paying attention to the focus on one thing. Well it's true if he is playing on a phone or game he has many problems but when he is playing on the phone and working on the computer at the same time he will go to the restroom frequently. Thanks for the great help.

WOW!  There is so much for me to READ - I love it!  But I guess the bottom line is We need to try EVERYTHING!  UGH!  I feel I have. I have a 9 yr old - who is epileptic.  he takes quite a bit of meds, But I seriously dont think that the meds are what is causing his problem.  It is a HUGE problem.  He poops his pants DAILY!  Weve tried taking things away, rewarding with a marble jar, I generally keep a very Positive outlook.  But I feel, its causing turmoil in my marriage.  My husband does not spend a lot quality time with our son - could that be it??  UGH - IDK.  He is the youngest.  We have a 27 yr old (who tries to help) a 25 yr old daughter (who tries), a 20 yr old - who lives in Michigan - in college.  Then our 9yr old.  I pick him up from school - he smells.  The class smells.  I truly feel I might have to homeschool him.  This could possibly be what he wants.  Unfortunately, I am dealing with Ovarian Cancer - so my days are up and down.  I dont let him know that though.  In any case, I am going to contact the school for a possible Counselor - as I read in someones comment - I thought maybe they can shine some light as well.  Im so glad I am NOT alone - and I am thankful for this website!
