Are we over praising our kids?

We all know that encouragement is important- even in our own lives it can really make a difference, but are we praising our kids too much?

I was recently reading an article from an expert that thinks we are in fact praising our kids too much- but instead of not praising them, he recommends giving our kids only sincere encouragement- not just praising them for anything and everything.

Do you make an effort to praise your kids?  When you do, is it sincere or are you trying to be positive in general?  Which way do you think is the way to go?
