Hands turning brown

My nine year old granddaughter's hands are turning brown as if she has dipped them in some sort of dye. It started on one hand and now is showing up on the other hand and some on her legs. She does not feel sick nor does she have a fever.

Not certain about brown but I do know if you eat a lot of carrots you can turn orange or hands and nails can ..it happened to me once upon a time
