I can hardly think about eye injuries----  they are one of those things that really get to me.  My son was jumping on his toddler bed a few years ago and jumped off and somehow caught his eye on the edge of a drawer that was open.  (makes me ill to think of).  He hurt at first and as the day went on he got worse and worse screaming and crying.  It wasn't gashed where you could see it and he was rubbing it, and would clamp it shut if I got close----  so we ended up going to the ER.  He had a scratched cornea.  They held him down and put a cream directly on it.  (ouch---  again, hurts me to think about this).  I had the cream to take home and put it on right as I put him down for bed.  Dad held him and I put it on.  It was a battle.  He slept during the night and when he woke up, he was much better.  We didn't put the cream on anymore but did go to our regular doctor.  She said that a scratched cornea is very painful but keeping the eye shut (as you do during a nights sleep) really helps heal it.

Yes, I'd go to the doctor----  but thought I'd share our experience.  good luck
