formula

My grandson is 2-1/2 months old.  His mother insists he is never full, so instead of inceasing the ounces of formual, she is down to 3 oz per feeding and putting a tablespoon of rice cereal in each feeding.  Not sure how many times he feeds a day, but at 3 oz ... I am so afraid he is not getting the proper nutrition or the amount of formula he needs for his developmental growth.  He is good in weight and height - not udnerweight, growing very well, etc.  But this is worrisom.  Are there not standards on how many required ounces of formula an infant should have per day?  thank you!

my children's pediatrician told me that the correct amount of formula is their age in months plus 2 ounces. and that they should eat every 3 to 4 hours. (so if he is 2.5 mo old he should get 4.5 oz every 3 to 4 hours). cereal should not be given at all before 4 months of age because their bodies are not equip to digest it before then. And doctors also say to never feed cereal through a bottle (although most of us do this anyway :) )

I think that 4-6 oz formula is better for the child at each feeding  its too early to give the rice cereal.it may cause some cholic . Good Luck ,
