head concussion

My daughter who was in a bad car accident back in April was seen by a Neurologist yesterday for severe daily headaches and dizziness. They mri and head ct showed an angioma. The Neuro dr said that is not what her problem is coming from it is from a severe concussion, and she is suffering from post concussion problems and could take 3- 6 mo easily to recover from. Why does this take so long to recover from? Why was this never picked up before from the er doctors. She is now on amitriptline and magnesium oxide for control of headaches. He did say that her angioma will be monitered in 1 yr with another mri/mra of the brain for follow up.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and encouragement. Hopefully she will be better soon. Right now just working on getting her through headache and pain free for at least a day or two and go from there. She is a very strong girl and never gives up. Thanks again.
