Possible Multi-POP symptoms query

I'm 43yr old mum with 3 girls: 15,14&4.My periods suddenly stopped 2yrs ago & GP found no menopause hormones present.My ongoing symptoms are still high in frequency:-

- dragging/pushing sensation in lower abs;
- bowel movement which, ½ the time, isn't obvious until I'm on the toilet & then it happens because my canal is full & it just comes out auto., due to lack of room; other ½ of time I know I need to go but it feels like something is in the way & that I shouldn't push;
- I've now found a bulge at entrance to my virgina and my rectum entrance has gone (upwards, I think, above bulge).
Anyone know of similar circumstances?

UKlady pretty much covered what I would have posted.  Your symptoms sound as if you might be suffering from pelvic organ prolapse.  This could also be inter related with your hormones.  A urogynecologist can address all your concerns.   Many women who have been diagnosed with prolapse have similar symptoms as you do.  Let us know how you get on

Hi there resami69.  It does sound like a rectocele prolapse ( from the colon/rectum into your vagina ).  You may have other prolapses but you will need to have an examination by a Urogynecologist to be sure and you may also need to have tests done.

The pressure/dragging in your lower abdominal area as well as difficulty in passing a bowel movement are symptoms of prolapse also.

With regards to your loss of periods.. you can also ask a Urogyne about this as well.

Do not strain to go for bowel movements and consider using miralax if you get constipated.  I use suppositories as well as a hand held enema to make sure my BM is complete as I have not yet had an operation for my rectocele etc which eliminates straining which makes prolapses worse.

Incomplete BMs will leave you feeling more of a bulge if you have a rectocele.

Have you been to your Dr yet?  Consider asking for a Urogyne appt to address all your concerns and let us know how you get on.
