My body has rejected internal sutures three times in the past--I think the term my dermatologist used was that I was "spitting" the sutures--from the removal of questionable moles. Anyway, the first two times were done at the same time, the internal sutures worked their way out and I got a horrible infection and now have a nasty keloid. The third time, the doctor used different internal sutures, and again they worked their way out, slight infection and not as nasty of a keloid. I have asked NOT to use internal sutures at all--this is a mole removal, I don't see why it's necessary, and have had 6 others removed without internal sutures. He wants to try a PDS suture, now. I am trying to figure out if I should find another doctor.
If people have a history of rejecting internal sutures, what are the chances that it will happen with a PDS suture? Or, what percentage of people that get PDS sutures reject them?
