Any Suggestions?

I have been taking metformin for over ten years, synthroid, crestor, spirnalactone, & provigil. I am not a diabetic, but considered to have Metabolic X syndrome.  I really want to loose some weight, but it doesn't seem to come off if I eat healthy and exercise or don't.  My weight seems to stay the same until I try to diet.  I'm faithful for about 6 to 8 weeks with no results, then I go back to my old habits and gain about 5 pounds.  I'm almost afraid to diet.  Any suggestions?

Thank you for your comments and encouragement.  I have went to a dietitian, surprisingly they loaded me up on lots of carbs.  High Protein seems to work the best for me, but as you said it is really slow. I applaud your determination to stick with it for 100 lbs, wow!  I'm trying Weight Watchers right now.  I guess there is no easy fix.

I did not know that PCOS and Syndrome X were considered the same thing. I thought that one lead to another. So far I have been a text book case except my blood pressure has remained good.

Thanks.

I assume you mean you have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (also known as syndrome X or metabolic X syndrome by many) - if so why not go see a dietitian who deals with diabetes (just because they deal with diabetes does't mean they can't help develop a plan that will for you, even if your not diabetic) and have them help develop a plan that will work with you?

I've got PCOS and have been able to drop over 100 pounds (I average 20 a year) its been slow but its come off - but it did take a good year plus of working with a diabetic dietitian to find the right combo that would work for me (carbs, protein and fats) that and finding out which foods just don't agree with me and eliminating them from my meal plan.

I know it can be frustrating to get the weight off, I spent a number of years hitting the gym, being very much active and not shedding a single pound (though building muscle like crazy. But weight can be loss, its just a matter of finding the right combo of things that help the weight to shift in the right direction.

Luck!
