Can you answer my questions?

First I'd like to say I really like this forum. It has helped me the most out of everything I've found. I do have a couple of questions though. I am trying to get pregnant and is having some trouble. I've found myself thinking about that and only that. I don't even want to try anymore. It just ***** that I've wanted to be a mom since i was a kid. That was what I always saw my self being. Anyway, what kind of medicine should i be on or not on. My doctor put me on metformin. I take 500mg twice a day. I'm not sue if i shout try something else or not. I've been taking it for three months with no change. I haven't had anything change. Should i ask my doctor to do a sonogram to see if that's really it because she hasn't done that yet. The only reason she said i have pcos is because i have hair more than normal for a girl and i haven't had a period in two year and I'm overweight but i've always been overweight since i was young. I;m trying to change the way i eat but I'm having trouble. I'm not currently having a period so can i ovulate. How do i know if I'm ovulating or not. Sorry for the book but I'm trying everything i can think of ana nothing. Can anyone help?

Hi i was dagnosed with PCOS three months ago, i was devestated as have been trying for a baby for 18months. my doctor sent me for a scan to diagnose it and has put me on metformin 500mg 3 X a day.
I have been cycling to and from work 3 times a week which is 8 miles and then do a 10 mile cycle at the weekends. i have changed my diet to whole foods and cut down but not out the carbs. I have lost 2st9lb so far and am feeling loads better in my self.
I have done a lot of reading and it seems that a low GI diet is the best thing for women with PCOS. I am starting to see a change in my periods from 7/8weeks apart to 6 weeks and they are lighter so i have all fingers and toes crossed for some good news soon!
the doc also advised i give up alcohole because of the sugars in it!
i really do feel your pain i have also always wanted to be a mum, im 30 now and would like it to happen soon, it is so easy to let it consume your life but i think it is also important to enjoy having sex as apposed to doing just for the end goal!
good luck and i hope this may have helped?

Hi I am currently taking metformin twice a day and it does work, exercise is also important try walking even 1/2 an hour a day i tmakes a huge difference. Or take the advise of the previous post and check out that hospital programme sounds good. My doc also put me on birth control to regualte my periods because we were trying to get pregnant, then clomid and now an IVF cycle (failed).

Good luck, an ultra sound isn;t a bad idea to make sure the meds are working. My doc also did an ovulation test on day 12 to see if I do ovulate. Hope this helps. Don't dispair you are still young.

Take care

Try taking the temps, to check if you are ovulating.  There are kits, but they are costly and you'd have to do them back to back to back if you are trying to pin down ovulation.  Google up "measuring ovulation taking temperature" or something like that.

As for the weight, getting it off will make a big difference.  A friend of mine signed up at a program at her hospital, and they had those students running up and down the fire stairs and all sorts of cool things, and she lost a ton of weight.  She particularly liked the hospital program (through their education department) because of the commonalities she found with the women in the group.

Weight Watchers is also super.  you don't have to buy their food, but you do have to go to the meetings, and my husband dropped 30 lbs. on their program with ease.

Good luck!
