Help!! Bleeding for 2 months straight w/ PCOS

Hi I have had PCOS for all of my adult life and I have always managed it with BCP's.  I had a successful pregnancy (via chlomid) and for the year I was breastfeeding after I was regular for the 1st time in my life.  After I stopped breastfeeding I went right back to being irregular.
I had not had a period in 9 months and I new my ovaries were full of cyst I could feel the pain.  I went to the Dr. and they confirmed that my ovaries looked like a box of honey combs so they gave me Provera to start a period and then Yaz to start taking after I got a period.  I started bleeding a week into the Provera & have not stopped since (that was 58 days ago!) I was taking the yaz for about 3 weeks and the bleeding was not stopping so I went back into my Dr. and they put me on Femcon to see if that would work.  Exactly a week later I fell to the floor in pain and could not even get up. I went right back to the Dr. & they told me that I had ruptured a large cyst.  They told me to start taking 2 Femcon pills a day & they gave me pain meds.  They told me that I should stop bleeding by the end of the week.  That was almost 3 weeks ago and I am still bleeding!!! It almost stopped yesterday but today I am in a lot of pain again and I am bleeding heavy.  I called my Dr. (Again... I should get a room there) and they told me just to go back to 1 pill a day and that should stop the bleeding?? Does that make any sense to anyone else? It makes none to me.
All I know is that I need to stop bleeding because my hormones are such a mess that it is beginning to affect my family life & I feel so horrible & weak.  I just don't know if it could be something else I should be checking into instead of my PCOS.

Thanks for all of the advice. I am going back to my GYN in the morning ( for the 5th time in 2 months) and I will be sure to bring some of these things up.  I feel like if I go in there a bit more educated I can maybe get better results.  Wish me luck.

Honestly when i was given Provera to stop bleeding, it actually made me bleed more. I bled the whole month of March 2007, before in April 2007 they told me I had PCOS. My doctor gave me some pills I think something called Northendine (sp?). I had no bleeding the whole time I was on those pills. I was on them from middle of April until June. he gave me them to stop my bleeding and to give my body a break from everything and try to get my lining back in order. After I finished those pills I was put on Yasmin in July 2007 to control my periods (and also prevent pregnancy) and everything seemed to start falling in place. I started metformin in September 2008 (helped me to lose 57lbs so far). You might want to ask your doctor about those pills Northendine, i think thats how you spell it. It was similar to a type of birth control, but not your average bc pill. I had no period in May and June, and then I started to have regular cycles with the help of Yasmin in July. I hope everything works out for you. I know how it is to know something is wrong with your body and nothing seems to work. Once i found the right doctor, it all seemed to work out.

I'm sorry you're having to go through that! I was only recently diagnosed with PCOS. Previously, I was diagnosed with Endometriosis (which has apparently come back, goody). When my gyn first thought I had endometriosis, he but me on bcp. I did not do well on them and ended up having to stop. I then bleed for about 3 months straight. I'd have a day here or there where I wouldn't bleed, but never more than 2 or 3 in a row, then I would start back up. My emotions were out of control and I was incredibly fatigued. I called my gyn and told him I wanted the lap surgery. I was actually still bleeding when they did the surgery and confirmed endometriosis.
Okay, the point of that story.... I actually don't know if my prolonged bleeding was due to the endometriosis, the reaction to the bcp, undiagnosed (at that time) PCOS, or just a hormone imbalance. All I know is it stopped after the lap and I things got a bit better for a while.
If I were you, I would insist that your doctor investigate what is going on. Let him know this is having a negative affect on your life and you've tried everything they have told you to do and it hasn't changed anything. Let the dr know that if they will not do anything, you may have to go somewhere else to find a dr who will. (I know, much easier said than done!)
Good luck and I hope you stop bleeding soon!
